The Horatio Alger State Scholarships are valued at $10,000, and it is available in every state in America to High School juniors planning to pursue a bachelor’s degree.

This Horatio Alger State Scholarships are awarded to qualified students in all 50 states in America and the District of Columbia.

Eligibility and Criteria for Horatio State Scholarship

To be eligible to apply for the Horatio State Scholarship, please, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • You must be enrolled full time as a high school junior in the United States of America.
  • You should exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a bachelor’s degree at an accredited non-profit public or private institution in the United States of America. Please note: students may start their studies at a two-year institution and then later transfer to a four-year institution.
  • You should be able to demonstrate with proof that you have a critical financial need. Note: A $55,000 or lower adjusted gross family income is required.
  • You should be involved in co-curricular and community service activities.
  • Maintain a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0.
  • You must be a citizen of the United States of America.

Please note: applicants for the Montana state scholarships must meet additional eligibility criteria.

Horatio Alger Career and Technical Scholarships

The Horatio Alger Career and Technical Scholarships is for students who want to pursue a career or technical education at an accredited non-profit post secondary institution in the United States of America.

The Career and Technical Scholarship Program is funded through the generosity of Horatio Alger Association Members, Jim F. Dicke II and Dennis Washington.

Eligibility and Criteria for Horatio Alger Career and Technical Scholarships

  • An interested student must have completed high school or earned a high school equivalence credential.
  • Enrolled in eligible program in Fall 2021.
  • The person must show a strong commitment to pursue and complete a career or technical program (up to 2 years) at an accredited non-profit post-secondary institution in the USA.
  • The student must also demonstrate a critical financial need. He or she must be eligible to receive the Federal Pell grant as determined of the FAFSA.
  • The student must have also demonstrated perseverance in overcoming adversity.
  • Must be under the age of 30.
  • The student must be a citizen of the United States of America.

Horatio Alger Career and Technical Scholarships Coverage

The worth of the Horatio Alger Career and Technical Scholarships is $2,500 which is given to 500 recipients.

Funds may be used for tuition, fees, books, and supplies. Note: All scholarship funds are paid directly to the institution on behalf of the qualified recipient.

The CTE application is now open with a priority deadline of July 15 (applications will continue to be awarded on a rolling basis until all awards have been claimed).

Dennis & Phyllis Washington Foundation Scholarship (5 awards at $52,000 each)

  • Current freshmen who are entering their sophomore year in the fall of the application year at Idaho State University
  • Resident of Idaho
  • Minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0

Janet S. Dicke Scholarship (1 award at $25,000)

The Janet S. Dicke Scholarship Program is funded by Association Board Member James F. Dicke II, Chairman-CEO of Crown Equipment Corporation.

  • Academic achievement (minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.5)
  • Planning to pursue a degree at Trinity University (TX)

Mel Klein Scholarship (5 awards at $10,000 each)

The Mel Klein Scholarship Program is funded by Association Member Mel Klein, founder of Melvyn N. Klein Interests.

  • Academic achievement (minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.5)
  • Planning to pursue a degree at Colgate University, Columbia University, Stanford University, or Tulane University

Montana Scholarship (50 awards at $10,000 each)

Robert G. Miller – Boise State University Scholarship (5 awards at $16,000 each)

  • Current high school seniors who are entering their freshman year in the fall of the application year at Boise State University

Santa Clara University – Schott Family Scholarship (3 awards at $50,000 each – amount matched by school)

Horatio Alger National Scholarships

The Horatio Alger National Scholarships is awarded to qualified students from all the fifty states in America, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico.

The qualified awardees receive an all-expensive paid trip to Washington, DC, during the spring of the senior year to take part in the National Scholars Conference.

Please note: Recipients must attend the National Scholars Conference to receive the award.
